Charles Louis Bernaert passed away on January 14, 2026 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, stories, and a reminder that life is best enjoyed with a sense of humor and a good meal. Charles had a gift for making ordinary moments memorable with his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He was the kind of person who enjoyed unplanned adventures, learning new things, and dancing the night away. Charles loved deeply, showed up consistently, and had a quiet way of letting people know they mattered.
Charles was born on April 29, 1933 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He immigrated to the United States in 1980, married Gretl Reinhardt Bernaert, and began practicing Homeopathy. His company Nova Homeopathic Therapeutics was acknowledged as one of the top homeopathic companies in the world during his 37 years of practice, and his private practice helped thousands of people.
He is survived by his daughters Angelica Bernaert and Nicole Bowen, her husband Danny Bowen, his grandchildren Zachary Bernaert-Bowen, Bri Bowen, Rachel Bowen and his nieces Monique Kramer and Saskia Diepstraten. He will be most remembered for his deep spiritual wisdom, his gift of healing, and his unwavering presence for those he loved. He taught those around him the importance of showing up, laughing often, and not taking life too seriously.
In honor of Charles, tell a story, share a joke, laugh a little louder than usual, and remember that life is best lived exactly as he did-on your own terms.
