She was born on March 22, 1936, in Clayton, New Mexico, and spent her life in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she created lasting memories. She enjoyed each moment spent with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, imparting wisdom and love to the younger generations.
A devoted homemaker, Charlene raised her four children with love. She was a vibrant spirit known for her love of dancing, playing tennis and the beauty of New Mexico's landscapes. She found joy in crafting, with talents in pottery, sewing, and painting, which she pursued with passion. Her adventurous spirit led her to hike Sandia Mountain from bottom to top several times, and she treasured trips to Jemez and Pecos with her family.
Charlene was also a dedicated teacher of special education for several years, with a compassionate heart for her students and their families. She also fulfilled her dream of working in the beauty industry after completing beauty school, leading her to become a self-employed owner/operator of her own beauty salon. She later joined her brothers at their family barber shop, where she worked alongside them and her sister-in-law.
Charlene was a faithful member of Calvary Church. After her retirement, she dedicated her time to volunteering in the Children's Ministry and joyfully served in Vacation Bible School (VBS) for seven years, sharing her faith and love with countless children.
She loved the Lord deeply and found peace in prayer, scripture and worship.
Charlene is survived by her cherished children, Catherine (Karen) and husband, Ray Garcia, Greg Martinez and Cathy Chavez, Leonard Martinez and wife, Lucielle, Loyann and husband, Richard Garcia II. Her legacy of love extended to her grandchildren, including Renee Garcia and Jon Lucier, Lauren (Garcia) Villarreal and husband Michael Villarreal, Christopher Martinez and wife Chelena, Andrew Martinez and wife Veronica, Richard Garcia III and Fiancée, Madeline Silva, Noel Garcia and Fiancé, Lukas Gutierrez, Alec Garcia, Nicole Garcia, along with her great-grandchildren, Lori Benavidez, Isaac Benavidez, Angelo Martinez, Alyssa Martinez, Janine Martinez, Nickolas Martinez, Lincoln Lucier; and her brother, Louis Grine.
