Gloria

May 19, 1934 — April 8, 2024

Celina "Gloria" Griego, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away with her two daughters Phyllis and Nancy by her side, on Monday, April 8, 2024, just one month shy of her 90th birthday. Born May 19, 1934, in Newkirk, NM to parents Dionicio and Victoria Moya, Gloria grew up in Tucumcari, NM and was one of 8 children. She is preceded in death by her "Knight in Shining Armor" Phil and their beloved children, Patricia, Michael, and Charles.

Phil was in the Air Force when Gloria and Phil were married. Their favorite assignment was Prestwick, Scotland which was considerably different from New Mex-ico and for a small-town girl it was a wonderful experience. Thus began her adventures in travel. Gloria loved to travel and cruise with Phil to many exciting places including Europe, Hawaii, the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, Panama Canal, Latin America, the Mexican Riviera, and river cruising in Europe. One of her favorite trips was to Flor-ence, Venice, and Rome, where they visited the Vatican.

Gloria loved spending time with her family. She was always trying new hobbies which included piano and guitar lessons, ceramics and painting lessons and with her friend Pat Phelps even took belly dancing lessons. She would enter a painting at the State Fair each year and many of her beautiful paintings hang in the homes of family and friends. She crocheted many beautiful afghans which she would also gift to family and friends. Before Phil's passing, you would find Gloria and Phil at the local Senior Centers, the Post, and the Kirtland Officers Club dancing to good music and socializing with their many friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Keller and husband, George; daughter, Nancy Gallegos and husband, Mike; daughter-in-law, Adelita Griego; granddaughters, Michelle and Melissa Gallegos; grandsons, Mi-chael Jr. and wife, Rebekah, Patrick, Phillip, and Estevan Griego; and great-grandchildren Alan, Orion, Celine and Nelli Griego; sister Esther Hen-derson and many nieces and nephews.

Gloria's Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, 6:00 p.m. at French Funerals, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fat-ima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd NE followed by a graveside burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
