Celida Viola (Gallegos) Montano

Celida Viola Gallegos Montaño, 92, died March 9, 2016 in Albuquerque. She was born on February 2, 1924 to Amalia Atencio and Aurelio Gallegos of Ortiz, Colorado. She graduated from high school and worked in retail customer service until the age of 24 when she married José Nestor Montaño. They were married for 30 years, moved to Albuquerque, and had four children. She was a homemaker and cafeteria cook for the Albuquerque Public Schools.
Mrs. Montaño is survived by daughters, Mary Caroline Montaño, Elizabeth Montaño Baca and Claire Smith (Duane); and son, J. Nestor Montaño, Jr. (Maritza); as well as grandchildren, Emily Army, Nicholas Army (Angela), Celida Bruss (Jon), Stacie Simpson, Christopher Baca (Seth), Monica Baca (Victor Loeras), Violeta Baca (Ruben Castro); and great-grandchildren, Madison Army, Uriah Army, Izabella Simpson and Oliver Mark Loeras. She is also survived by sisters, Lily Garcia, Frieda Alderete, Evelyn Ortiz, Gloria Chacon and Martha Abeyta.
She is preceded in death by husband, José Nestor Montaño; father, Aurelio Gallegos; mother, Amalia Atencio Gallegos; brothers, John "Frank" Gallegos, Willie Atencio, Walter Gallegos, and Aurelio Gallegos Jr., aunt, Ruby Gonzales; sister, Teresita Madril; granddaughter, Shellie Smith; and son-in-law, George Baca.
Rosary will be recited Friday, March 11, 2016, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. Friends and family may visit beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 12, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, 2621 Vermont St. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
