Catalina  Adonilia (Romero) Romero

Catalina “Katie” Romero, 93, passed from this life surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 10, 2023. She joins her parents Donilio and Ermelina Romero; sister Simmie Riggs; husband Samuel Romero; and daughter Ida Romero in Heaven.  She was a very caring and compassionate person and was the caregiver for those that went before her. Katie Romero was the matriarch of our family and taught us strong family values. She was an adventurer, a loving wife, a caring and intuitive mother and grandmother, an amazing cook and gardener.  She made all that came to visit her feel special by her love and offered whatever she had in food and drink to provide comfort. She loved being with her family and friends and loved seeing how the family was growing. She loved growing a garden and had wonderful fruits, vegetables, and flowers around her, she loved nature and watching her birds.  She is much loved and will be missed.

Katie Romero is survived by Ida Romero’s family, Nina Wells, Susie Romero-Sosa (Dan), Lisa Romero, Nora Romero, Sam Romero (Amber); 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brothers: Gabriel Romero (Angie) and Juan Cruz Romero; sister-in-law: Alice Romero; cousins, many nieces and nephews and her dogs.

She lived throughout the state of New Mexico in Mora County, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, and Albuquerque. Katie had many friends everywhere she lived and was a spiritual woman active in the Catholic Church.

On Monday, July 24, 2023, a Rosary will be recited at 9:15 a.m. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. A Reception will follow at the Parish Hall.  This will take place at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW., Albuquerque, NM. Flowers can be sent to the St Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with her name and the date of the service.
