Carolyn P. Lill

Born during WWII to longtime Albuquerque residents, Homer and Ava, Carolyn was raised in Kansas and Nebraska but returned to NM to attend the University of New Mexico, where she joined the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and earned a Masters in Education.

She taught first grade at Acoma and Alvarado Elementary schools and Sunday school at First United Methodist downtown for over a decade.

In the 1970s, Carolyn served as the president of the Albuquerque Little Theater under director Bernie Thomas and worked tirelessly with her church group to raise funds in support of the All Faiths Home and what was then the Albuquerque Battered Women's Shelter.

Later in life, she volunteered with the Grace Meal Program, serving hot meals at the church on Mondays, and also volunteered for many years as a driver for Meals on Wheels, chatting with everyone and bringing smiles to people's doors.

Along with her husband of forty years, Daniel, she raised a daughter and two sons, and became a doting grandmother to four grandsons. She will be remembered as the kind of mother who hand sewed Halloween costumes, helped with every science fair project, baked homemade sugar cookies for every holiday, and liked nothing better than a good Easter egg hunt.

The couple were members of the ABQ Country Club for almost four decades.

Carolyn is also survived by her sister, Valissa, who still resides in the Midwest.

Aside from her family, the two great loves of her life were Elvis Presley and chocolate milkshakes.

The graveside service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Meals on Wheels, the organization she served so proudly.
