Brian John Kelly

Brian was a loving husband, father, grandfather, teacher and friend to many passed away peacefully to eternal life August 9, 2026 at 96 years young.

Brian was a devoted Catholic, a serious historian on the side of the poor helping and advocating for justice throughout his life and teaching career with APS.

Born in Kansas City, MO to Kathryn and Ollie Kelly, attended Catholic Schools and graduated from Rockhust College in 1952. During his teaching career, he earned a MA from the University Of Colorado and a Doctorate at The University of New Mexico. Doing research for this degree at the National University of Mexico UNAM, he met the love of his life Maria del Rosario Casellas and got married in 1971.

His parents, Ollie and Kathryn; and brothers, Donald and Gerald preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years; one daughter, Kathryn Kelly (Zachary McCullough); and five precious grandchildren, Marilyn Zai, Olivia, Jack, Orlando and Dominic.

The Kelly family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Brian's Corus Hospice Nurses; Alejandro, who has become a dear friend and Brittany for their caring and loving care of Brian. Special gratitude to Father Vince for his wise spiritual advice and caring for the family.
