On June 16th, our brightest light was extinguished forever. Brandon passed away at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the tender age of 17.
He leaves behind parents, Dave and Gina Ripley; sister, Danielle Ripley (boyfriend Tyler Silva); grandfather, Victor Fresquez; grandmother, Loretta Carillo; uncle and aunt, Armando Fresquez and Teresa Kizziah; as well as great aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Brandon had many passions in life including, playing the trumpet, earning his brown belt in karate and becoming a level 1 certified instructor at Dragonfire Kenpo Karate. His biggest passion was wrestling. He was co-captain for both his junior and senior years in high school. For the 2015-2016 season he received the award for most dedicated wrestler as well as, the coach’s award for the JV wrestler who displayed a positive attitude, strong work ethic and supported his teammates win, lose, or draw. For the 2016-2017 season he received the award for the most pins, most team points, along with the Dennis Trujillo Memorial Award for the wrestler whom the sport of wrestling changed their life the most. He also took 4th in State his senior year in his weight class of 126 lbs. Prior to his passing, he had received his diploma and participated in his graduating class ceremony. Brandon’s most passionate side though, was the love he had for his family and friends. He loved everyone around him without question. He had a huge heart and caring spirit and would be there for anyone at any time. His smile would light up a room and lift your heart. He was and always will be a son, brother, grandson, nephew, great-nephew, cousin and friend. His passing has left a hole in our hearts and he will be greatly missed by many.
To show your support for Brandon, the family asks that you wear black and turquoise for the services, his Del Norte Knights school colors. Services will take place this Friday, June 23, 2017, 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Reception to follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Prevention of Teenage Suicide (www.sptsusa.org), or the Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention ( www.yellowribbon.org ).
