Boleslo "Bo" Perea

February 3, 1933 — March 5, 2024

Boleslo "Bo" Perea, 91, was born February 3, 1933, in Torreón, New Mexico, to Jose A. Perea and Maria V. Perea and passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. He is survived by his children, Linda Mendoza, Debra Jaramillo (Terry), Gerald Perea (Sally), Charise Saiz, Eugene Perea, Donna Saylor (Cliff), and Edmund Perea.

Our dad often referred to himself as, "just a poor boy from Torreón City," but his abundantly full life never made that apparent. He graduated from Estancia High School, in 1953, where he played baseball as a pitcher and lettered in the sport. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served during the Korean War. When he returned home, he met and married our beautiful mother, Isabel, in 1955. They were married for nearly 66 years, until her passing in 2021. He raised his family in Albuquerque, while serving his community as an Albuquerque Police Officer (1956-1980). During this time period, he also served in the New Mexico Air National Guard (1961-1965) and was proud of his days as an interpreter at the Cuban Refugee Center in Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas, in 1980. After retiring from the police force, he returned to work in security, with Ross Aviation, at Kirtland AFB, until 1991. After "retiring for good", he continued working part-time delivering auto parts.

When his children were young, he coached several teams for West Mesa Little League. He was especially proud of the time he coached the Blue Jays, who won a few championships under his leadership. He also served as league president. Dad always stayed fit. He liked to jog and take long walks, most often accompanied by his beloved dog, Cocoa. He served with the Knights of Columbus and played softball on a senior league, until the age of 80. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and working the puzzles, as well as listening and singing along to some of his favorite classic country songs by artists, such as Hank Williams, Kitty Wells, and Loretta Lynn. He and our mother loved concerts, dancing, spending time with family, and engaging in his favorite pastimes - horse racing and the casino. He loved taking long road trips, as well as just sitting around and talking about the good ole days. We have many good memories and will miss his conversations.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Beverly, Reina, Ronnie, Gerald, Valerie, Brian, Nathan (deceased), Christopher (deceased), Kimberly, Jonathan, Brianna, Dominic, Brandon, Bella, Danielle, and Andrew; his 16 great-grandchildren; his four great-great-grandchildren; sisters whom he adored, Eulalia Mora, Ida Pollard, Mary Griffin, and Ramona Sandoval (deceased); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Emilio Mora, Leroy Mora, James Mora, Ronald Mora, Edmund Perea, and Eugene Perea. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Jaramillo and Cliff Saylor.

Rest in peace, Dad. Until we are reunited in heaven, give mom a kiss and a hug from us.
