Betty Jo Stafford

Betty Jo Stafford (Elizabeth Josephine Koury), our devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sincere friend, found her way home with the Lord peacefully on February 6, 2026. From Betty Jo's beginning to her last moments on this earth, she maintained kindness, grace, compassion, faith, love and dedication to her family and friends.

Betty Jo's life can best be encapsulated by 3 words: FAITH, FAMILY and FRIENDS. In her almost 86 years on this earth, she experienced an abundance of all three. Born in Albuquerque, NM in 1940 to Rashid & Zahia Koury, Betty Jo was the youngest of ten children. She was the last surviving member of the Koury family that included eight sisters and one brother: Sadie Koury, Rose McAtee, George Koury, Camille Schofield, Bobby Olsen, Mary Barrack, Sophia Faris, Thelma Koury, and Nora Rollins.

The matriarch of Sadie's of NM, Betty Jo dedicated her life to serving the people with consistency, love, passion and overwhelming generosity.

Betty Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Stafford in 2007. Betty Jo is survived in life by her two sons, William R. Stafford and Brian C. Stafford; her daughter-in-law, Amanda Stafford; her grandsons, Nicolas Stafford, Isaac Stafford and Samuel Stafford; her granddaughter Theron Stafford, her granddaughters-in-law Victoria Deflon Stafford and Jaiden Mazon Stafford (expecting); her great-grandsons, Jameson Stafford and Everett Stafford, and hundreds of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers: William R. Stafford, Brian C. Stafford, Nicolas Stafford, Isaac Stafford, Samuel Stafford, and Austin Shull.
