Betty Jane Looney

March 12, 1930 - September 20, 2023

Betty Jane Looney, 93, passed away peacefully at home on September 20, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness.

Betty was born in Lexington, MO, on March 12, 1930. She and her family moved to Henderson, NV, in 1943. She was valedictorian of her class when she graduated from Basic High School in 1948. In 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Trevor (Chad) Looney, and lived in Palo Alto, CA. She and Chad moved to Albuquerque, NM, in 1952 where he worked for 40 years as an engineer for Sandia National Laboratories. She was married to Chad for 66 years until his passing in 2017.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put the needs of her family before her own. She took great pride in her home, which was always filled with laughter, good food, and good times. In her younger years, she was an avid tennis player and bowler. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was a master at even the toughest ones.

She is survived by her brother, George Rostine and wife Brigette of Alexandria, VA; son, Bradley Looney and wife, Aida Looney, of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Valerie Looney Dean and husband, W. Dennis Dean, of Burleson, TX; son, David Looney and wife, Ruth Looney, of Beaufort, SC; five grandchildren, Shana Looney, Erika Looney Miller, Sierra Dean Quinonez, Sonya Looney Ewonus, and Brian Looney; five great-grandchildren; and various nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private memorial service.
