Betty Beardsley joined our Lord on August 9th, 2025 after a brave battle with dementia. All the while caring for her husband Don, who is dealing with dementia as well. She is survived by her sons Eric and Mark, and Mark's wife Darla, Her sister Amelia and brother Glynn. Her other sibling Ronnie proceeded her in passing. She also has many nieces and nephews who she adored, along with their children.
Becky (as she was known by family and friends) was born in Columbia, Louisiana in 1938 and from there traveled to Sulphur where she graduated from Sulphur High School and then went on to study at McNeese State University. She then traveled to California to begin her life's journey. She spent time in Guatemala with friends, and gained a love of the Hispanic culture that she held close to her heart for her lifetime. She then would travel back to south Texas and met Donald in a beer garden while she was working in a typing pool in Houston. They would be married on April 13th, 1961. She would move to the Southwest and would have her firstborn, Eric, in Roswell, New Mexico. Mark would come later while living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She was the wife of a petroleum geologist, Donald, and yet that is not all she was. She was a mother, a career woman who loved the travel industry, a hobbyist who loved photography, loved collecting Southwestern and Native American art, a world traveler, a gardener, and more.
She had such a love for nature's beauty and the gifts the Lord had given her that she spent a lifetime in reverence of the Lord and helped others in finding him.
She worked with A Peaceful Habitation, a non-profit the helps women leave incarceration and find housing and employment.
Her smile and brilliant blue eyes will be missed by all she touched
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to The Alzheimer's Foundation.
