Bernice Cristine Larrañaga - Zimmer, 86, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully December 12, 2025, and is now in the presence of our Lord.

She is survived by her children, Andrea Ortega and husband Joseph Ortega, Christina Delgado, Andrew Zimmer and wife Anne Zimmer, Alicia Zimmer, Elizabeth Muñoz and husband Charlie Muñoz; including 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Adelina Larrañaga, daughter Veroniz Zimmer, grandson Joseph Ortega II, and husband Andrew Canessa.

Mother, grandmother, wife and friend, Bernice was loved and revered by many. Loving, caring and quick to offer words and deeds of kindness. Her personal sacrifice was immeasurable, giving all that she had, in mind, body and spirit to her children, to the very end.

A lifelong green thumb and a culinary whiz, she passed to her children the gift of gardening and the love of cooking. Her tamales will be missed almost as much as we already miss her.

Bernice also enjoyed reading, baking, art, music, singing, jitterbugging, culture, geography, and history.

She was courageous, feisty, stubborn and fiercely independent. We feel her loving presence and her rebel strength, we smile and are grateful for those gifts, too.

"...Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43. We rejoice in the promise of eternal life.
