It is with heartbreak and sorrow that we announce the passing of Benny Sanchez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, who left this world peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 72.

Benny was born on October 25, 1952, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Herman and Querina Sanchez. A lifelong resident, he grew up in the East San Jose neighborhood, with his childhood home even located on the land now occupied by the Herman Sanchez Community Center, named in honor of his generous father. Benny attended the old Albuquerque High School before pursuing his passion for Education and Recreation at the University of New Mexico. He deeply valued higher education, a principle he instilled in his children, always encouraging them to be lifelong learners. Benny dedicated 30 fulfilling years to the City of Albuquerque, where he was renowned for his ability to build relationships, as he never met a stranger. Generous and kind-hearted, he was always the life of the party, consistently wanting to bring people together to celebrate the joys in life.

In 1977, he married the love of his life, Vivian Jeanette, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and shared dreams. He was a devout Catholic, devoted husband, and proud father of his twin girls, Crystal Luna and Dr. Amber Gallegos, and his youngest, Dr. Brittney Sanchez. He was an amazingly supportive, loving, and boastful grandfather to Bella, Jacob, Adam, and Leo Benny. Benny's wisdom and love as a father-in-law will be forever cherished by Rick and Chris, who are dedicated to honoring his legacy.

Benny, was a true master of flavor, celebrated for his legendary red chile mouthwatering chicken wings, and irresistible chicharrónes Beyond the kitchen, his passion for movement shined brightly. An avid runner, dedicated exercise enthusiast, and talented athlete, Benny excelled in softball and basketball, proudly competing in numerous sporting events, including the New Mexico Senior Olympics. He found happiness in watching his grandchildren play baseball, basketball, and volleyball. Benny loved connecting with his grandchildren through laughter, fun, and being their source of perpetual hope. Always up for an adventure, Benny loved exploring new places and trying new things, a true joy to be around.

Benny is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Querina Sanchez, and his brother in- law Felix Casados.

Benny is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Vivian Jeanette Sanchez, Crystal and Chris Luna, Dr. Amber and Rick Gallegos, and Dr. Brittney Sanchez. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, Bella, Jacob, Adam, and Leo Benny.

Benny was a beloved son-in-law to David and Jennie Casados, a valued brother to Sylvia and Sal Arias, a faithful brother to the Giron family and a cherished Godfather to Damian Casados and Adam Luna.

Benny's departure leaves a void in the hearts of his numerous family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Standing tall in both character and stature, Benny was a presence that could not be missed. His height was matched only by the depth of his kindness, the strength of his convictions and warmth of his heart. A piece of him lives on in all his loved ones and will be passed down through generations of the strong family he so proudly built.

A rosary service will be held on Monday, June 30, at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church (St. Mary's) located at 619 Copper NW. ABQ NM, 87120.

Benny will be laid to rest at Followed by the burial at 12:30 PM located at Mt. Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
