Bennie Anaya Sr, 84, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 9, 2016. Bennie was born in Galisteo, New Mexico on January 30, 1932 to his beloved parents, Lucas and Rosario Anaya.
Bennie was a proud veteran serving in the Korean War for the U.S. Army. He served fighting in combat in Korea. After returning from the war, Bennie married Marie Sophie Martinez of Pecos, New Mexico in 1954 and made their home in Galisteo, New Mexico.
Bennie is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Marie Sophie, married for 54 years; and his daughter Deborah Ann Anaya, whom he adored.
He is survived by his son, Bennie Anaya and finance Felicia Valdez; daughter Hazel Marie Hill; and Meghan Gabrielle Jaramillo, his precious only grandchild and her father, Alex S. Jaramillo.
Bennie worked 40 years in the dairy industry for Foremost Dairies in Santa Fe, Bordens and Prices Valley Gold in Albuquerque, and retired in 1996.
Bennie spent his last years at Palmilla Senior Living where he loved the staff and the many friends he made. He was a devote prayer warrior and spent most of his days in prayer and solitude devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe praying the rosary.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside on 9300 Golf Course NW, followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary by Our Lords Family of Mercy. The memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe located on Griegos, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven on Wyoming and Paseo. Pallbearers will be Bennie Anaya, Alex Jaramillo, Adrian Leyva, Freddy Hernandez, Leon Feummeler, and Orlando Esquibel.
