It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Benedicto (Benny) Rodolfo Naranjo, who left this world on August 24, 2026, after a courageous battle with COPD. Benny was born on August 4, 1938, in Santa Fe New Mexico, to his loving parents, Emilio and Mary.

Benny graduated from the University of New Mexico and later from the UNM Law School, where he laid the foundation for his illustrious career as a lawyer. His dedication to his clients was unparalleled, and he was equally committed to guiding and mentoring young lawyers, always willing to offer his wisdom and support.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Benny was an avid fly fisherman, often finding peace and joy in nature, He also loved to read anything he could get his hands on and research the dickens out of whatever until his eyes gave out on him. He was also a loyal fan of UNM football and basketball, Benny cherished these moments of camaraderie and community.

Benny proceeded in death by his wife Amy, his son Benny Jr., and his great grand daughter Adelaide. He leaves behind his children Katherine and Gregory, his cherished grandchildren Robert, Ashley (Nathan) and Monica, and his adored great-grandchildren Rory, Everett, and Orion. Also survived by brothers, sisters, in-laws, and their families, all of whom will miss him dearly.

A memorial service to honor Benny’s life will be Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at French’s University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87102. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to local women’s shelters or charities. A private reception for family members to follow at 3:15pmto 5:15pm at the University Reception Center there at French’s.
