Barbara Diane Schmitt

After quietly facing dementia for the last few years, Barbara Schmitt passed away on October 21st, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Heinz Schmitt, and her son, Karl Schmitt. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Glenn, and granddaughter, Darby Glenn.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Barbara spent most of her life in Albuquerque, NM, where she met and married her husband of 60 years. She was the supportive partner behind Heinz's career at Sandia Laboratories, a devoted mother who never missed her children's soccer games, and a grandmother who loved teaching her granddaughter new skills, like knitting. A quiet yet vibrant spirit, she enjoyed tennis, bowling with her teammates, volunteering with the Assistance League of Albuquerque, traveling the world, and drinking a great glass of wine.

The family would like to thank the amazing aides and nurses at La Vida Llena for their constant care, as well as Alex at Amber Care Hospice.
