October 5, 1932 — July 6, 2020

We’re here to celebrate the life of Bobbie Young.

Bobbie was born in Oct of 1932 in Atlanta, GA to Clara & Grover Lloyd, and she was youngest of 6 children.  She was a curious child and hence grew up to love the cartoon character, “Curious George.”  During Bobbie’s childhood, World War II occurred which changed her family living arrangements.  She and her cousin Helen ended up in the same household and they grew up just like sisters which she absolutely loved.  They shared many fond memories from childhood.  Bobbie went on to meet her husband Eddie on a blind date and married in 1957.  Shortly there after came 3 beautiful children: Wesley, Wendy, and Bruce. They now boast of 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  Bobbie’s husband Eddie passed away in March of 2019 and Wesley (her son) passed away in a car accident in Oct 2006.

While Eddie had a career as a social worker with the Veteran's Administration, Bobbie was busy running the household and raising 3 children. When the children became teenagers she worked outside the home as a police dispatcher and then later on as a medical assistant to a geneticist.

Later on in life they retired in the lovely mountains of Tennessee.  To be more specific Hampton, TN not to far from Watauga Lake which is nestled between the Appalachian mountains.  Hiking and the solace of the mountains became a great therapy for Bobbie. This is where she had a chance to think and commune with God.  At the age of 65 she and Bruce planned a trip to the Grand Canyon where they hiked the “Bright Angel Trail” which was quite the feat!  In the mountains of TN she enjoyed daily hikes and often took her dog and the goat up the mountain.   The purpose for the long walks was to encourage the goat to eat the wild flowers along the way; but NO to her dismay, that goat was so stubborn, he would always wait until they got home and THEN he would eat her flowers from the garden.  Her other great love was traveling.  Bobbie would spend hours researching where she wanted to go and what she wanted to see when she arrived.  She has traveled extensively all across America and Canada.  Two of her favorite trips were traveling across the Canadian Rockies in a train and the other was Glacier National Park.

Bobbie was an avid animal lover.  During her life time she had dogs, cats, rabbits, ducks, goats, chickens, fish and yes, even a gecko.  Her beloved and cherished favorite of them all were the elephants.  She thought they were gentle giants and oh so intelligent.  She became a generous supporter of the elephant sanctuary in Hohenwald, TN.

Most importantly in her live time, Bobbie came to know and love the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of six.  She found the most comfort in psalms 23.  She loved the Lord with all her heart and couldn’t wait to go to Heaven, always exclaiming, “THE BEST IS YET  TO  COME!”
