Barbara Clark

Barbara was born in Butler, MO on August 8, 1926, to Dr. George H. Thiele and Wilma Bates Thiele. She was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated HS there. She attended the University of Kansas at 16 years old and four years later graduated with a degree in Spanish. She met and fell in love with her future husband, Thomas R. Clark, a fellow student at KU. Tom accepted an appointment to the US Military Academy and they continued to date until he graduated and they married on June 14, 1948. For the next 20 years they moved to many U.S. Army posts, including a 3-year tour in Orleans, France. Returning to the USA in 1963 they moved to Maryland. Tom took a job with the Department of Energy and they moved to Albuquerque NM, Las Vegas, NV and back to Albuquerque before he retired. Barbara was a member of PEO and volunteered for many years at the Assistance League of Albuquerque. She is survived by her son, Thomas R. Clark III (Colorado Springs, CO) and daughter, Kathleen Clark Sandberg (Penn Yan, NY). She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Clark (2020) and her husband (2004).
