In Loving Memory of Anthony Alfonso Duran
Anthony Alfonso Duran, 64, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at Rust Medical Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, surrounded by the love of his family.
Anthony was born on November 10, 1961, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Eugene and Angie Duran, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by several of his beloved children: Anthony Duran, Timothy Duran, Joseph Duran, and Christina Duran.
He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 31 years, Deana Duran, whom he married on June 24, 1995. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, family, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Anthony is also survived by his brother Eugene Duran; his sister Donna Ronquillo; his children Rachel Duran, Jamie Diaz, Elijah Duran, Mariah Duran, and Ezekiel Duran; his grandchildren; HeavenLee Garcia, Vianey Garcia, Anthony Duran, Eleighas Diaz, Raeann Duran, and Izabel Diaz; and his great-granddaughter, Gianna Iaradella.
Anthony was a humble, hardworking man who spent most of his life working in retail and taking on whatever jobs were necessary to provide for his family. He never measured success by material things. Instead, he measured it by whether his loved ones were cared for, protected, and supported. No matter how difficult life became, Anthony worked tirelessly to ensure his family had what they needed.
More than anything, Anthony loved his wife, Deana. Their marriage was a beautiful example of partnership, loyalty, and affection. Their 31st wedding anniversary would have been celebrated on June 24. Even after nearly 31 years together, they never stopped flirting, laughing, and showing each other love. Deana's spunky, spontaneous personality kept Anthony on his toes, and he deeply admired her strength, determination, and work ethic. Through every season of life, Deana remained faithfully by his side, living out her vows through both the joyful moments and the difficult ones.
Even during his final days, Anthony's greatest concern was not for himself but for the woman he loved. It pained him to think that he would no longer be here to provide for Deana. That selfless concern spoke volumes about the kind of husband he was, a man whose love never wavered, even at the very end.
Anthony was also a devoted father who was his children's biggest supporter. He celebrated every accomplishment, no matter how big or small, and took pride in each of his children. While life sometimes made it difficult to be everywhere at once, he always made an effort to spend time with each of them and be present during life's most important moments. His family knew they could count on him when it mattered most.
One of the family's most recent memories is that even while battling illness, Anthony made it to his eldest granddaughter's wedding.
Anthony loved taking road trips with his family, creating memories along the way, and finding reasons to laugh. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for being a jokester who could brighten a room and bring smiles to those around him. His laughter, stories, and presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind, and in the example, he set through his love, hard work, humility, and dedication to family.
Anthony's legacy lives on through his wife, children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and all those who were blessed to know and love him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
