It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Annie Montoya, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on July 27, 2025, at the age of 92. Annie was born on March 16, 1933, in Santa Rita, NM, and spent her life nurturing and caring for those around her from her home in Albuquerque, NM.
Annie was a devoted homemaker, whose love knew no bounds. She was the heart of her family, cherished by her sons: Lester, Richard, and Weegee Montoya, along with her daughter-in-law, Terri Montoya. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Vanessa Baack (and husband Paul), Amber Cantwell (and husband Paul), Natalie Montoya, Raymond Montoya, and Jacob Montoya. The joy of her life multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Nathan Baack, Christian Cantwell, Kaleb Baack, Hannah Cantwell, Jase Baack, and Joshua Cantwell-each holding a special place in her heart.
Annie was deeply loved and admired by her community, especially her friends at the Camino Retirement Apartments, where her warm spirit and compassionate nature brightened the lives of many. She is survived by her mother, Elleteria Romero and will be remembered not only for her role as a family cornerstone but also for the countless memories she created with her loved ones.
Annie was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Raymond Montoya, who she missed dearly.
In honoring Annie's life, a Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, on August 14, 2025, at 10:00 am. . A Graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Gardens on August 22, 2025, at 11:00 am, where we will lay her to rest among the beauty and peace she always sought for her family.
Annie Montoya's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be profoundly missed and cherished for the enduring love and support she provided throughout her life. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she gave so freely.
