Annie Hanoumis

July 9, 1931 — November 28, 2023

Annie Hanoumis, aged 92, was a beloved matriarch of her family. She was born in 1931 in Sena, NM to parents, Manuel DeAtocha Sena and Felicita Aguilar. She had three siblings, Della Torres (George), Delcie Garcia (Joe), and Henry Sena (Dorothy), all of whom have gone to be with the Lord. She was raised in Raton, NM and graduated from Raton High School, Class of 1950. She began work as a bookkeeper for a local hardware store until 1954 when she married Tommy Hanoumis from Dawson, NM. Tom served for four years in the United States Air Force before he married Annie.

In 1956 the newlyweds left Raton and moved to Phoenix, AZ where some of Tom's family

had settled. It was there, as a customer service representative at a local bank, that Annie started a lifelong career in the banking industry. In 1957, their only son, Greg was born. In 1963 Annie and Tom moved back to New Mexico and settled in Albuquerque.

Annie began working for Albuquerque First National, which later became Sunwest Bank.

After helping hundreds of thousands of people with their banking needs and becoming an

expert in her field, she retired in 1994.

She became a widow somewhat early, when Tom passed away suddenly in 1987. She spent much of her retirement helping others. She was a strong and undeniably caring woman who donated blood regularly, volunteered for several years helping seniors with their taxes, and was devoted to her family.

At home she loved tending to her yard and reading the newest Danielle Steele book. You could also find her watching Lawrence Welk or ice skating competitions and listening to Vikki Carr. She also loved being a grandma and great-aunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her husband. She is survived by her son, Greg Hanoumis (Terri); granddaughter, Ashley Kerns (Michael); great-grandson, Thomas; niece, Susan Gonzales (Bob); great-nephews, Bobby Jr. and Frank Gonzales (son Colby); and countless cousins and friends.

A special thanks to Hospice of New Mexico for their comfort and care during this difficult time.
