Annette Marie Gutierrez Turk

Annette Marie Gutierrez Turk was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM, having spent only two years in New York and Maryland. Annette grew up in Albuquerque attending St. Mary's for grammar and high school years, maintaining close ties with a core group of classmates for well over 50 years. She is a cancer survivor dating from 2005.

She was predeceased by parents, Peter A. Gutierrez and Gertrude Montoya Gutierrez; sister, Marcella L. Gilchrist; granddaughter, Elexia Turk; as well as the love of her life, Thad H. Turk. She is survived by sister, Clare T. O'Malley; daughter, Heather A. Foster; and sons, Dana Turk, James Turk, and Michael Turk. She leaves grandchildren, Heather Clark, Shadron Smith, Lauren Helm, Danetta Turk, Ryan Kendricks, Janek Turk, Kayleigh Turk, Riley Turk, and Madison Turk.

Annette was proud to be a 15th generation New Mexican and Spanish Market artist, as well as having taught New Mexico history as it related to her love of Spanish colonial colcha embroidery. She has taught on the national, regional and state level. Her work is in the collection of the Guizhou Ethnic Cultural Museum, Guiyang, China and the Museum of Spanish Colonial Arts, Santa Fe, NM, USA.

Annette's life celebrations will begin with a rosary to be recited on Thursday, September 3, 2026, 10:00 a.m. with a Mass to begin at 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave. NW, 87102. She is to share a niche at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Thad, forever together. A celebration of Annette's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, 1701 4th St. SW, a place near and dear to her heart.
