Anne Rubin, a beautiful and amazing woman, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, surrounded by those who loved and cherished her. She fought a two-year battle with cancer but never lost her love for life, her husband, her two incredible sons, peonies, a large and loving family, and Peanut M&Ms.
Anne was born on September 16, 1963, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and spent her childhood in Connecticut and North Carolina. She graduated in 1985 with a degree in Commercial Art from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.
She met her future husband, Jeff Rubin, while working at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Albuquerque. He once confided to a friend that he wanted to ask her out, only to be told not to bother—because she was “out of his league.” They married on September 1, 1991, at the Lovelace Mansion in Albuquerque. Anne was a magnificent bride.
Anne and Jeff were blessed with two sons, Alex and Zach, who were the light of her life and “mama’s boys” in the best sense of the phrase.
She played a pivotal role in helping Jeff realize his dream when they purchased Savory Fare Restaurant on February 1, 2000. Together, they raised their boys in the midst of that “crazy” restaurant, which they eventually sold in June 2019.
Anne was the one great love and enduring light in the lives of those closest to her. She was generous and kind, fierce and feisty, and had the most beautiful smile the world has seen. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, she was a devoted daughter, sister, and friend.
Anne is survived by her husband, Jeff; her sons, Alex (Ashley) and Zach; her mother, Terry Quinn; her father, John Billing (Pamela); her sister, Christine Kamm (Andrew); her brother, Dave Billing (Beth); and her lifelong friend, Kim Bajrech.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 4pm at the family home, 7305 Aztec NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Brent’s Place, or Animal Humane New Mexico.
