Anne Elizabeth Dorn
Anne Elizabeth Dorn (Mooney) was born on March 29, 1934, in Mount Vernon, New York, to James Xavier Mooney and Dorothy Ella Thorn. As the middle of five children, Anne would often talk about her fond memories of growing up in Yonkers, New York, with her four siblings until her dying day.
After graduating from high school at the age of 17, Anne enrolled in Columbia Memorial Nursing School in Hudson, New York. By the age of 20, Anne began her career as a registered nurse.
At 23, Anne met the love of her life, William Henry Dorn. They were married on October 5, 1957, in Hyde Park, New York. Again, Anne was surrounded by her siblings. Big brother, Jim, walked her down the aisle; her eldest sister, Dorothy, was her maid of honor, and her younger siblings, Jane and Charles, were part of the wedding party.
The newlyweds settled in Dutchess County, New York, first in Poughkeepsie and then in Hyde Park. Together, Anne and William had 5 children: William Jr., Anne, James, Joseph and Teresa.
In 1976, the Dorn Family moved west to Albuquerque, following her siblings, who had previously relocated to the sunny Southwest to escape the New York winters.
Once in New Mexico, Anne continued working as an RN. She was employed at the UNM Children's Psychiatric Hospital from 1978 to her retirement in 1995. All told, she actively worked as an RN for 40 years.
Anne was preceded in death by her father, James X. Mooney; her mother, Dorothy Ella Mooney; her siblings, Dorothy Mooney, James X. Mooney and Jane O'Toole; and her beloved husband, William Henry Dorn.
She is survived by her youngest brother, Charles; son, William H. Dorn, Jr.; daughter, Anne Kampmeier and husband, Todd; son, James Dorn and wife, Irene; son, Joseph Dorn, and daughter, Teresa Robles and husband, Luis, grandchildren, Teresa Hammer and husband, Joseph, Dr. Nicole Frey and husband, Cory, Ryan Kampmeier, Cristina Dorn, Katherine Parker and husband, Robert, Jacqueline Rushton and husband, Charles, Dr. Zachary Romero, and William Robles; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Stinson and husband, Joshua, Abbey Hammer, Brayden Hammer, and Matthew Lovato-Dorn.
