Anne Harlan Crockett, a beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 20, 2026, shortly after her 94th birthday.

Born on January 17, 1932, in Crowley, Louisiana, Anne was the daughter of Joseph McHugh and Ruth McHugh. She grew up in Jennings, Louisiana with her sister Patty, and two brothers Joe, and Jim, and graduated with her Bachelor of Education from Louisiana State University. She continued her schooling at the University of New Mexico where she earned her Master of Education.

Throughout her life, Anne was gracious and thoughtful to all those around her and had a passion for playing the piano and genealogy which she enjoyed with great enthusiasm. She was known for her determination and for her characteristic phrase referencing her over 40 years of teaching school, "I taught in 6 states, including the state of confusion!" This phrase will always be remembered by those who met her and those who knew her well. She loved birds, nature, and especially trees and flowers.

Anne is survived by her two daughters, Anita Roe and Gaylia Crandall, one stepson, John Crockett, two sons-in-law, David Roe and Mark Crandall, along with her four grandchildren, TarynKayleigh, Kate, and Joel, including many other relatives and friends who were touched by her humor, warmth and kindness.

A service to honor and celebrate Anne's life will be held at Saint John's United Methodist Church located at 2626 Arizona St. NE, in Albuquerque, New Mexico on February 7, 2026, at 10 am. Friends and family are invited to attend to pay their respects and share their memories. In lieu of flowers please donate to Red Cross or Wildlife Rescue of NM.
