Anita Alice Davis, 73, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM. Alice was born on August 31, 1951, in Denton Texas to Fred and Dorothy Buxton.
She is survived by her husband, Lyle Davis; son, Darius Upshaw and his wife, Meghan; her sister, Sharon Wilson and her husband, David, her brother, Don Thompson and his wife, Francesca. Her grandchildren, Alex Upshaw, Tyr Upshaw, Ethan Upshaw, Declan Upshaw, Quentyn Upshaw, Sydney Hughes, and Xander Hughes.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Diana Buxton and her daughter, Janell Hughes.
Alice graduated from High School in 1969 in Hazelwood, Missouri. That same year she moved to Albuquerque with her stepfather, Don Thompson, her mother and her 2 sisters. She began a career in bookkeeping at that time.
In 1989, she married her second husband, Lyle Davis. That was when she learned to play golf. She enjoyed playing golf with Lyle, friends and family. She took golf very seriously and enjoyed talking about her golf game. Once she even had a hole in one! She liked telling people about that round of golf over the years.
Alice enjoyed going to Sandia Casino with Lyle. They had their routine at the casino. They would go their separate ways, meet for lunch or dinner and discuss how their gambling was going. If things better for one than the other, the other with winnings would share with the other one- so the gambling could continue for a little while longer.
Along with going to the casino, Alice enjoyed a good hamburger. She and Lyle would go to Chili's, sit in the bar and she would order her favorite hamburger, the OldTimer. She chose to sit at the bar because on busy days they would be surrounded by people talking and laughing.
Alice loved her family- but Alice always did things her way and on her terms.
She wasn't rash or impulsive. She put a lot of thought into her decisions. When it came time to decide how and what her life could be like, she said, " I want to be able to drive, go to the casino and go out to eat". And so she did.
Her life ended Aught 1, 2025 at Kaseman Hospital. She went peacefully. She had caring nurses that were with her in her last days.
God bless you, Alice.
