Alois Wagner was born November 25, 1963, and passed away on June 12, 2026. A member of Santo Domingo (Kewa) Pueblo and later a long-time resident of Old Town, Albuquerque, NM, he made his living as an artist and silversmith and could often be found selling his jewelry under the portal in Old Town. He is best known for his 'contemporary Native American' silver bracelets which are a distinctive and attractive style that stayed true to his traditional Southwestern origins while also being original and inventive. His bracelets can be recognized by his hallmark - signature, deer hoof, "kewa", and arrows - stamped on the inside of the band.

Alois attended elementary school at St. Mary's Catholic School, and high school at St. Pius X, where he excelled as a basketball player with the Sartans. His talent in basketball eventually took him to Benedictine College on scholarship in Atchinson, Kansas. Alois kept his love and enjoyment of basketball throughout his life and played in tournaments at SIPI and shoot-outs at UNM. He also loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Many mornings he could be found fishing at Tingley Beach before work.

Alois is preceded in death by his Grandparents Ascencio "Ace" Calabaza and Santana Calabaza, his Mother Manuelita Wagner (Calabaza), his Father Alois Wagner, and his stepfather Harold McCain.

He is survived by his children Sage Wagner and Kelsey Boulware (Martin), his grandsons, Pierce Boulware and Emory Boulware, his sister Christa Wagner and sister Monika Wagner, his brother Anthony McCain, his uncle Henry and aunt Marie Calabaza of Santa Domingo, his maternal aunt Mary Calabaza and all of his family at Santo Domingo Pueblo.

Alois is remembered by those who love him for his charming and goofy personality, his free spirit, creative nature, and all the deer, elk, and fish he brought home to share with us.

Burial has taken place in a private ceremony. A Rosary will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 9:30 AM followed by a 10:00 AM memorial mass at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church in Old Town, 2005 North Plaza Street, NW, Old Town Plaza, Albuquerque, NM 87104. All are welcome.
