Allan L. Hinds
A good Christian man has entered heaven’s doors. Lloyd Allan Hinds was strong, resilient, honest, kind, and everything a real man desires to be. He joined our heavenly Lord on June 10 2025. Allan was born on July 14 1938 to Earl Evert and Pearl Edith Sinning Hinds. He had two sisters, Earlene Perkins and Donna Adams, both deceased. The family lived on a farm 21 miles northwest of Guymon, where Allan rode his horse Cloudy to the one room school down the road. After six years he began riding a bus into Guymon where he graduated at age 16 .Allan and Dianne Zentz were married on August 3 1955 in Raton New Mexico. They spent one year farming and watched their wheat crop fail as the dust storms blew it off into Texas. That fall Allan entered college and graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry.
Allan joined the U.S. Forest Service immediately after graduating. His first Assignment was Pecos NM. He and Dianne spent the next 34 years at various stations in New Mexico and Arizona. He was proud to be District Ranger of the Sandia Ranger District when the tram was built. His specialties were recreation, land and range and grazing. This included land over four states. They spent 9 years in Carlsbad where three of their four sons, Kenneth, Keith, and Kirk completed high school. Their youngest son, Kyle, finished high school in Sierra Vista, AZ.
In 1984 Allan was transferred back to Albuquerque and he retired from the forest service in 1993.
Soon after, he opened Hindsight Remodeling. He remodeled homes in the Albuquerque area and also built a few homes in the Brazos area. That lasted about 15 years until he retired again.
Allan and Dianne traveled extensively. They were especially proud of visiting all of the 50 states in the USA. How they got to the fiftieth state is a story. They commented to a friend that Delaware was the only state they hadn’t seen. The friend volunteered to take them there and she did! They visited most of Europe, including seven trips to England and three to Ireland. They went on a cruise to Australia and New Zealand
Allan and Dianne were looking forward to their 70th anniversary in only 7 weeks, but that was not to be. Allan Hinds was a wonderful, ethical, outstanding man. His entire family feels honored to have been a part of his life-long adventure. Special thanks to the staff of Bosque Trails Hospice for their care. The funeral services were held on June 12th with many family members and friends.
