Aleta Thomas-Martinez

Aleta Thomas-Martinez, born in Albuquerque, NM to Dave and Jean Thomas passed away peacefully January 2024. Leta received her Master's degree from UNM and worked as a special educator for over 30 years, one of her proudest accomplishments. Leta loved working alongside her students and told stories about teaching long into her retirement. Leta enjoyed gardening, baking, going for walks, and camping and tractor pulling with her family. Leta loved her family most of all and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her parents, husband, daughter and son in-law, brothers, sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear friend Jeanne, all of whom will miss Leta dearly. Leta was preceded in death by husband Sonny; parents Dave and Jean; and brother Brett. Leta is survived by daughter Desirae and son in-law Mitchell; brothers David, Jon, Clayton and wife Martha, as well as her loving sister in-laws, beloved nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 5, 2024 at 10 a.m. at FRENCH- Lomas. In lieu of flowers, we feel Leta would greatly appreciate donations to the Special Olympics.
