Albert T. Pohl

On January 23, 1931, Albert Pohl Sr. was born in the mountains of Chilili, NM and on October 28, 2025, he drew his last breath, at his rancho, as was all he ever wanted. He was born to Gregorita (Torres) and Leon Pohl and had seven siblings. He met the love of his life, Refujio "Rose" Gutierrez, in Martinez Town, where they married on February 24, 1951. Together they raised 11 children: Joe and wife, Carol; Albert Jr. and wife Carmella; Ernest and Rosemary; Beverly Romero and husband Paul; Alfred and wife, Roberta; Richard and wife, Kim; Raymond and wife, Christine; Carol Aragon and husband, Elmer; Carl and Ruby; Patrick and wife Leslie, Annette Ortiz and husband, Antonio. He has 33 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Albert is preceded in death by his wife Rose, his parents, his brothers Max, Eloven and Ernesto Pohl; his sisters, Leonela Luevano and Andrietta Molina; granddaughters Elizabeth Pohl and Alyssa Pierce. As well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, compadres and friends. Albert is survived by his children, all of his grandchildren; sisters Raymie Hands and Christine Quintana, both of Grants, NM. Also, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a Corporal. An electrician by trade, he retired in 1993 from Gamblin-Rogers Electric after 35 years, and a member of IBEW Local 611 for 70 years. He was a rancher and farmer. An avid hunter, fisherman, and pool player. He enjoyed riding in parades and rodeo grand entries as a member of the Escobosa Riders club. Nothing made him happier than being at his rancho, surrounded by his family and friends and sharing stories, and a few "saludes" or "cheers"! If there happened to be a big ol' campfire, even better! His work ethic, quick wit, strong will, and sense of humor are just a few of the many things we will miss. We will forever cherish the memories of him. His grit will live on in his cowboy legacy.

Visitation will be Monday Nov. 17, 2025, at 6:00 P.M., Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Final Visitation will be Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 9:00 A.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 A.M., Fr. Mark Granito, officiant. All services will be at Holy Child Parish, 19 Cam de Santo Nino, Tijeras, New Mexico, 87059. Interment will follow at the Campo Santo de Chilili, Hwy 337 (South 14).

Pallbearers will be Anita Ortiz, Abelino Ortiz, Santiago Pohl, Lorianna Romero, Mathew Pohl, Zachary Pohl, David Pohl, Gabriel Pohl. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steven Pohl, Joshua Pohl, Racquel Pohl, Daniel Bustamante, Paul Romero, Elmer Aragon, Antonio Ortiz, Evaristo Gutierrez, Noe Gutierrez and Gilbert Lucero. Along with all of his grandchildren. Services entrusted to FRENCH-Lomas.
