Albert Martin Gonzales

Albert Martin Gonzales, age 91, was born in Santa Fe and a resident of Albuquerque since 1957. He passed peacefully Saturday, March 4, 2023.

He is survived by his children, Marykay Elms, Donna Sulier, and Lorraine Gambino and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Martinik Gonzales, Jude Terry-Gonzales and wife, Anastacia, Catharine Elms, Victoria Elms, Ryne Sulier, Gianna Gambino, and Steven M. Gambino; and granddaughter-in-law, Nikki Gonzales; great-grandchildren, Elysa Gonzales, Amehlia Gonzales, Zooey Gonzales, Jude Gonzales, Zaylee Gonzales, Avery Elms, Crew Elms; siblings, Alfonso Gonzales, Mabel Romero, Angie Lopez, Eddie Gonzales, Christina Gonzales, Rachel Escandon, and Richard Gonzales; and many other relatives and friends. Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie, his son, Lewis; his grandson, Albert; son in-law, Terry; his parents; and many brothers and sisters.

He was a graduate of Santa Fe High School, attended St. Michaels College, served in the US Army during the Korean War and National Guard. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1953. He worked 43 years at Safeway and Furr’s Supermarket as a Meat Department Manager. He was a founding member of the Risen Savior Catholic Community, a dedicated volunteer for St. Vincent De Paul, he taught CCD, was a Eucharistic Minister and a Lay director of the Cursillo movement.

Family and friends may visit FRENCH – Wyoming on Friday, March 17th 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.  A Mass will be held Saturday, March 18th at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the Gathering Hall at Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. Burial will take place on Monday, March 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
