Albert Leo Burmeister Jr., 96, born to Albert and Daisy Burmeister, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025. A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was honored to serve his country, a commitment that shaped much of his life and instilled in him a sense of discipline and purpose.
Albert married Dorothy Rundle and together they raised and loved their kids and grandchildren for 65 years until her death in 2016. Albert dedicated a significant part of his career to law enforcement, proudly working with the Albuquerque Police Department and the U.S. Air Force. He brought a strong sense of justice and dedication to his roles, touching the lives of those he served and trying to make them smile. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Albert was a talented artist, known for his cross stitch and plastic canvas creations that brought joy to his family and friends, who cherished his handmade gifts.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter Denise and husband Chuck Burton, son Kent Burmeister, grandchildren Andrea, Janeene, Matthew, David, Stephanie, Brigitte and Jacob, 9 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Albert was larger than life and will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter-in-law, Molly.
