Alan F. Shultz

Alan F. Shultz, CPNP, BS, BSN, MSEd, dedicated Children's' advocate passed away Tuesday, Sep 1, 2026, at the age of 82. Known for his kindness, care, and sense of humor, he enjoyed fishing, classical music-both as a listener and a player of the French horn - loved animals, and donated many of his retirement hours to an animal shelter. His working career spanned the Army and Air Force, where he specialized in pediatric nursing-a specialty that defined the rest of his working life including work in traditional hospitals, remote vaccination services, and school nursing. He was also a fan of the movie "Harvey" and one of its widely known quotes, "There's a lot you need to learn, Myrtle May, and I hope you never learn it."
He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, David and Laura; sister, Suzie; grandson, Reid; and several nieces and nephews. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Nita; and his brother, Jim.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at French Funerals - Westside Chapel at 8:00 am followed by a graveside service at 10:30 am at Santa Fe National Cemetery. 

Rather than flowers, or other such, his family suggests donations in his memory to the Watermelon Ranch animal center or Animal Humane NM.
