Wendell Lawrence Snapp

January 26, 1925 — July 11, 2013

Age 88, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, July 11, 2013. He is survived by his daughter, Stacy Moses (Eric) of Albuquerque, NM, son, Wendell Mark Snapp (Laura) of Albuquerque, NM, sister, Nelda "Skeeter" Harms, Nephews; Robert "Chipper" Snapp (Michelle), their daughter Jamie, Michael Snapp (Linda) and their children Brad, Stephen and Lauren. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Andrea and Sophie Snapp and their mother, Katie Snapp, Daniel Moses, step-grandson John Raymond (Snapp) as well as many other loving family members and friends. Mr. Snapp was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Lou Grogan and his brother, Robert W. Snapp. He was a 50-year Mason and currently a member of Mesa Lodge #68 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Masons and The Shrine Legion of Honor. Wendell was a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Mr. Snapp was a veteran of WWII, U.S. Army, 740th Railway Battalion, serving in Belgium and France. He later served in the Korean War where he earned an Army Certificate of Achievement for writing the Dispatcher's Handbook. He was an auditor and comptroller by profession, working for Harvey Hotels, the Hilton Inn downtown, the Desert Inn in Santa Fe, the Kachina Lodge in Taos and the Sheraton Old Town Inn. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 1:00 pm at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano Rd NW, Albuquerque. Interment will take place at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to The Shriner's Hospital.
