Robin McKenzie Epstein passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 8, 2023. She died merely 6 weeks after the death of her beloved husband, Marty. She is survived by her sisters, Jan Marx and Anna Rehrer; nieces, Hope Hayes, Liz Krus and Sophie McKenzie; great-nephew, Jacob Hayes; step-daughter, Helen Darby; and step-grandchildren, Sarah, Nathan, and Lucy Darby.
Robin was born on Saturday, April 21, 1945 in Amarillo, Texas. She spent her youth in the Texas Panhandle and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1963. Robin attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she graduated with a BFA in Theater, followed by West Texas A&M, where she completed a Masters of Fine Arts.
Robin's acting career began at the Amarillo Little Theater, continuing to the Front Street Theater in Memphis, and the annual production of TEXAS in the Palo Duro Canyon. When Robin moved to Albuquerque in the 1990's, she became heavily involved in the community theater scene and was active on and off the stage until her passing.
She and Marty met at the Vortex Theater and together they worked with the non-profit organization for many years. They were married for over 20 years and the theater was a true member of their family.
Robin was a skilled and prolific weaver and fiber artist, having shown and sold her creative work in many shows around the southwest. She was an avid reader and had written an original mystery novel as well.
She was a force of nature and will be missed. Please make donations in her name to your favorite local community theater.
