Greg was born March 25, 1957 in Snyder, TX to Jerry Bob and Lavell Lloyd. He grew up in Snyder, Aztec, NM, Medford, OR, and Albuquerque, NM. Greg was saved and baptized on June 6, 1965 in Medford, OR, and later was a member of Del Norte Baptist Church in Albuquerque.
He played football in 6th grade for the Oak Grove Rams, and has liked the NFL Rams his whole life. Later on in Albuquerque, he played football for the Eldorado Eagles but he never did like the Philadelphia Eagles much. After high school graduation, Greg joined the United States Air Force where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. After his service in the Air Force, Greg went to work for UPS, at first part-time loading packages on trucks but again rising through the ranks to feeder driver. He worked for UPS for 37 years.
Greg enjoyed many activities including golf, camping, scuba diving and was especially skilled at water skiing and kickball, and loved teaching them also. He loved to dance. He loved to sing those old country songs and hymns.
Greg was preceded in death by his dad, Jerry Bob Lloyd. He leaves behind a huge family, some unofficially adopted: his mom, Carolyn Lavell Lloyd; his brothers and sister, Tony (Lee Ann), Pam Casch (Roger), and Doug (King Dut); Cyndi Gatewood (his soulmate); and her children, Raeanna (David); and grandkids, Taylor, Domonic, and Lucas (who called him “Granpa Greg”). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and many many friends, as well as a dog named Rusty.
Greg was a God-fearing man of integrity who was loved and will be missed by many. He didn’t complain and he wasn’t sick. He claimed he just had “allergies.”
