William Morrow

March 11, 2019

William Morrow, 92, a navy veteran who served in three wars, a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019.

Born in Philadelphia in 1926, Bill lived and worked in several states including New Jersey, California, and Florida before settling in New Mexico. He retired from the Naval Reserve as a Chief Petty Officer. In the 1980s, he retired from the Albuquerque School District, where he worked as a locksmith.

Having worked as a carpenter, locksmith, and welder during his career, Bill was known for his willingness to help friends and neighbors with repairs and construction projects. A member of the Albuquerque Dance Club, Bill loved dancing.  He played harmonica, guitar, and trumpet.  He enjoyed music and movies.  He would occasionally reminisce with family about his naval career.

Bill was married twice, first to Maryanne Selmer and then to Dorothy Piano. He is survived by his son, Sean Morrow; his granddaughter, Mary Morrow; his sister, Dorothy Paone; and many nieces and nephews. Among those touching Bill’s life were his cherished friend and dance instructor, Rose Stansbury; his daughter-in-law, Denise Cunningham; his friends, Kelli Murphy and Joe Meegan; his neighbor, Tim Jaramillo; other neighbors; and members of the Albuquerque Dance Club.  He was preceded in death by both wives; and his older sister, Mary.
