Suleiman (Sul) Kassicieh, 65, beloved husband, father, son, uncle and brother passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 surrounded by numerous family members and friends. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Heyam Kassicieh; his two children, Charlie and Christina; his mother, Raoufeh; and his two siblings, Samir and May.

Suleiman was born in Jerusalem, Palestine on May 6, 1952 to Khalil and Raoufeh Kassicieh. He spent his first two years in Jerusalem until the family had to flee the conflict and settle in Amman, Jordan. Suleiman went to college in the United Kingdom then came to Albuquerque in 1973 where he attended UNM and received his BS in Mathematics. After being awarded an MBA in Finance from UNM, he moved to the University of Iowa where he received his PhD in Operations Research and International Business. Suleiman spent two years in Illinois as an assistant professor and then moved back to UNM where he taught and did research at the Anderson School of Business for the past 36 years. He was appointed the first ever Distinguished Professor at Anderson.

During his distinguished career at UNM, Sul was passionate about entrepreneurial start-ups, technology ventures, and job creation in Albuquerque and the state of New Mexico. The annual Business Plan Competition public event, which reflected on-going collaboration between UNM and the business community, including the national labs Sandia and Los Alamos, was one of Sul's singular achievements as a UNM Professor and a member of the Albuquerque community. He will be dearly missed.

Friends may visit Friday, October 20, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.  The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017, 9:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming.  Interment will follow the Funeral Service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
