He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Joan Butler; and four children, Michael, Peter, Alison, and David; and grandson, Matthew. He is survived by his daughters, Grace Whiteman (husband Chris), Ashleigh Candelaria, and Darcy Candelaria; his wife of 9 years, Cecilia and her children, Christina Villa-Robertson, Clifford Villa and Curtis Villa and their families. He was the proud Papa to seven grandchildren, David Vickery (wife Lisa and their daughter Samantha), Jessica Loghry (husband Jackie and their children Liv, Ava, and Kaden), Michael Butler (wife Amber and children Skylar, Lily, and Brooklyn), Matthew Butler (his widow Brittany and daughter Sarah), Stephanie Shorkey (husband Curtiss), Ashleigh Candelaria, and Darcy Candelaria. Paul served in the US Navy from 1949-1969, active during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict, as well as instructing ROTC at UNM and was honored to be a Chief Gunner's Mate and retire as Chief Butler. He then went to work for Presbyterian/Anna Kaseman Hospitals as Chief of Maintenance. He was always inspired to create through gardening, stained glass art, house re-modeling, landscaping, etc. He deeply appreciated and valued his time with the church, just as he enjoyed one-on-one conversations, small get-togethers, and huge gatherings and reunions. Paul loved people...and people loved Paul.
