William James Henning

October 2, 1951 — September 18, 2014

William James Henning passed away quietly at home on Thursday, September 18, 2014, after a long illness. William was born on October 2, 1951, in Albuquerque, NM. He was the second son of Vernon Otto Henning (d. 2005) and Margherita Mueck Henning (d. 1980), who were well known and well respected members of their community. William graduated in 1973 from UNM with a Bachelor of Arts in English, and pursued an MBA through the Anderson School of Management. Throughout his life, he gravitated to a career in communications, exploring every facet of the media. He began at the tender age of 14 as a radio personality, "Sweet William," at KBNM, playing the music he dearly loved for his fans. At KNME and KOAT he helped program and provide technical assistance for many television productions. He also became a PR specialist at Kent Nowlin Construction, writing press releases and ad campaigns for the company. He enrolled in a print media program at CNM (formerly TVI), and eventually became an instructor teaching printing and graphic design. In 1990, William and his wife established and operated Desert Dreams Publishers, a printing and publishing company in Albuquerque. Sadly, in 1997, William became too ill to continue the arduous task of running a printing press, and the business closed its doors in 1998. William is survived by his wife of 38 years, Virginia Swaine Henning; his daughter Amarryn Henning Huelsmann, son-in-law Kevin John Huelsmann, daughter Sydney Fairchild Henning, brother Vernon OM Henning and his wife, Lady Ann Henning; sister, Corinne Henning Sachs and her husband, Marvin Sachs. According to his wishes, his family will hold a private memorial service at a later date to be determined.
