Wanda F. McGlothlin

Wanda F. McGlothlin, age 89, a resident of Los Lunas, NM since 1971, died Monday, May 18, 2015. Wanda is survived by her children, Deborah Tracy of Aurora, CO; Earl McGlothlin, of Albuquerque, NM; Jon McGlothlin of Grand Junction, CO, Ian McGlothlin of Los Lunas, NM, 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Wanda was born on March 28, 1926, in Willis, Oklahoma, to James Logan Blakely and Barbara Ethel Blakely. She moved to Thoreau, New Mexico in the summer of 1927 in a 1924 Ford, where her parents bought a farm, and taught school at Smith Lake, NM. In 1929, she moved to Paxton Springs, NM where her parents cut lumber. In 1931 she moved to Hyer, NM, and then in 1936, a move to Albuquerque. In 1939 she moved to Tesuque, NM and then on to Pojoaque, NM. In 1941 she moved to Santa Fe, where she graduated from Santa Fe, High School and was employed at the telephone office until her marriage to Roy Alfred McGlothlin, in 1950, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They eventually settled in Albuquerque, NM. Wanda, was accomplished at quilt making and often made quilts for family, friends and grandchildren. She was a quiet, witty individual who loved to play her guitar, sew and read. She was an active and dedicated member of Rio Grande Baptist church, where she taught Sunday school, played her guitar and sang. She then moved on to Desert Willow Baptist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Services will be Thursday, May 28, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas with internment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Wanda's life.
