Millicent Norma "Millie" Garcia

Millicent Garcia, "Millie," 96, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, entered eternal life on Sunday, March 1, 2015. She passed peacefully with her loving family by her side. Born on January 25, 1919 to Elvira and Joseph Martin, Millicent grew up in Los Griegos. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rosendo Garcia; her sister, Geneva Padilla, and her brothers, Lloyd and Clem Martin. She will be greatly missed by her surviving eight children, Olympia Salas, Clorinda Towle, Priscilla Garcia, JoAnn Muller, MaryAnn Withrow, Ross Garcia, Steve Garcia and Cheryl Garcia; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Corliss Padilla, and many friends. Millicent Garcia retired from the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office after 17 years of service. She could be counted on to "tell it like it is" and was always a source of advice. Millicent was an exceptional cook and gardener, she loved to crochet and enjoyed dancing. The family would like to thank the Presbyterian Hospice team for the care and support they provided to our mother. Rosary will be recited Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Drive SW, in Albuquerque.
