Irene Vargas Kosick

KOSICK, IRENE VARGAS Irene Vargas Kosick, 51, devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully after a long fight with cancer. She is survived by Thomas, her loving and devoted husband of 13 years, her loving daughter, Anissa, her mother and father, Nora and Nick Vargas; brothers, Nick Vargas, Jr. and wife Cindy, and Victor Martinez and wife, Sonia; nephew, Dominic Vargas, and fiancAC., Kayla; along with numerous extended family members and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her beloved aunt, Gloria Maestas, and very close friend Janet McDonough. Irene was a native of Albuquerque and was especially proud to have been born and raised in the south valley. She was a graduate of Rio Grande High School. Irene started working for the U.S. Department of Energy after high school. With hard work and devotion she achieved the position of Supervisor in Human Resources. Irene loved animals and was known to rescue any animal in need. She will always be remembered for her love of family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 309 Stover Ave SW, 87102. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2014, also at Sacred Heart. Irene will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
