Guadalupe Nares Luna

d. February 20, 2015

Guadalupe Nares Luna, age 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, peacefully died on Friday, February 20, 2015. Born in Mexico City, she grew up in the garden district known as Coyacan. She had five brothers, all of whom preceded her in death as well as her parents. In 1955, she married Carmen J. Luna, who had recently returned from his tour of duty in Korea. They moved to Chicago, Illinois, Pop's hometown. They raised three children, all girls, Linda Maria, Sylvia Guadalupe, and Carmen de la Luz. Guadalupe was constantly reinventing herself and able to accomplish anything she set her mind to. She learned fine needle work as a child and kept her children well dressed in perfectly hand knit sweater ensembles. She was excellent at knitting, crochet, needlepoint and cross-stitch. Her talent came in handy when the family moved to Albuquerque in 1971 and she entered the world of electronics. She became an efficiency expert and retired as a manufacturing engineer at GTE Siemens. She loved going to church, praying the rosary, swimming at the therapy pool, and going to estate sales. She always was trying new things. She walked many times to Chimayo, once with the Archbishop. Her favorite thing in the world is most likely her teacup Chihuahua, Pepe. Guadalupe always made friends easily and is loved by so many. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, 10:00 a.m., at The Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. FRENCH - Wyoming 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400
