Caroline D. Chavez

Caroline D. Chavez, 95, died peacefully at home on April 21, 2015. Born to Frank R. Dow and Ruth M. (Campos) in Willard, NM, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman L. Chavez, and her son, Frank Ross. Caroline is survived by her daughter, Patsy, son, Edward, and daughter-in-law, Maite; grandchildren, Elena Clemons (Mike), Jaime (Jeanne), Sergio (Kyla), Frank (Kelli), Christopher (Jessica), Lisa Mauricio, and Mark; sisters, Antoinette (Sister Marie Evelyn) and Maggie; brother, Ray; brother-in-law, Feliciano Chavez and sister-in-law, Loretta Dow; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Anna Griego, and brothers, Frank, Milton and John. After retiring from Safeway, Caroline lived an active life participating in several Catholic ministries, as a competitive Scrabble player, and as a T'ai Chi-Chih instructor. The family is grateful for the loving homecare assistance provided by Sharon Simmons, Altura, and Presbyterian hospice. Rosary will be recited Monday, April 27, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday, April 28, 2015, 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming NE. Inurnment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
