Beulah D. Paisano

Beulah Duncan Paisano went peacefully to be with Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior she loved on September 1, 2015. Beulah was a woman whose godliness was always an example to her family, friends, and all who knew her. Beulah was born on March 13, 1915 to Nathaniel P. Duncan and Lydia Sanders Duncan in Salem, OK. She was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. Beulah was one of the oldest living members of Albuquerque First Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Ulysses G. Paisano; sisters, Lucinda D. Lujan and husband Paul, and Margurite N. Ray and husband, Clarence. She is survived by daughters, Cheryl Jean Paisano and Merle-Dean Sanchez and husband Joseph, two grandchildren, Dr. Damion P. Sanchez and D'Anza Freeland and husband, Mark; two great granddaughters, Iliana Freeland, and Annalee Freeland; nephews, Evans B. Ray, Dr. Michael Trujillo; great-nephews, John Waconda Jr, and Lawrence Waconda; niece, Evelyn Paisano; great nieces, Patricia Abeita, Karen Waconda-Lewis and daughter, Camille. Beulah attended the Albuquerque Indian School, Haskell Indian Nations University, Howard Payne University and University of New Mexico. She obtained her Elementary Teaching degree from St. Joseph's Teachers College (aka St. Joseph's College on the Rio Grande). Beulah began her 36 year teaching career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs at the pueblos of Santo Domingo and Isleta. She later taught with Albuquerque Public Schools at Pajarito Elementary and Collett Park Elementary. Beulah and her husband, Ulysses were founding members of the Albuquerque Laguna Colony and Haskell Club of New Mexico. In addition she was an Elder of the Cherokees of New Mexico. She will always be remembered for extending her friendship and caregiving to those in need. She remains a favorite teacher to many of her former students and their parents. She will be missed and fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched. Even through her advanced age and illnesses, she maintained her quick wit and love of life, especially with her Lord and Savior. Visitation will be on Tuesday September 8, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at FRENCH - University. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 934 Menaul Blvd. NE. The family wishes to express appreciation to Karen Waconda-Lewis, Dr. Lani De Saulniers, OlowA�n De Herrera, and Gentiva Hospice.
